Crime In A Cold Climate: KO Dahl, Thomas Enger & Yrsa Sigardurdottir, Monday 17th October, 7.30pm, International Anthony Burgess Foundation.
Torrential rain bounces off the paving slabs outside, and cloaked figures huddle in dark street corners. Book Club meeting with Håkan Nesser
We have now made podcasts from three past events available on iTunes. You can listen to the recordings in any browser, or go to iTunes to subscribe to the feed and download to portable devices. We have recordings of Håkan Nesser and Francis Hopkinson, Yrsa Sigurdadottir and Richard Wall, Barry Forshaw and Victoria Cribb. Unfortunately we did not record the Danish crime event, but will return with new podcasts from the coming Nordic Noir Book Club meeting with Anne Holt on October 12 at UCL.

I have now posted podcasts from the first meetings in the Nordic Noir Book Club on the website and this blog (see the pages “Shadows in the Snow” and “Secrets of the Ash” at the top of the blog page). We have recorded the talks and following discussions with Håkan Nesser, Yrsa Sigurdardottir, Francis Hopkinson and Richard Wall, and hope many more than the fortunate book club members who could make it to London will now be able to enjoy the wonderful talks we have had so far. Please leave comments on the events and podcast on the relevant pages.
Keep an eye on this blog as our next event in the Nordic Noir Book Club takes shape. We have just confirmed that internationally acclaimed Icelandic author, Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, will be joining the Nordic Noir Book Club in London on March 17. She will bring Icelandic “ashes and dust” to London, though, fortunately, only in the pages of her latest crime novel in translation: Ashes to Dust, trans. Philip Roughton. Hodder & Stoughton, 2010.

Read a review of Ashes to Dust in The Independent (Aug. 2010)
Read our friend Maxine’s review on the Petrona blog (Sept. 2010)
More information will follow in our Newsletter, on Facebook and on this blog. In the meantime, read Ashes to Dust and the other crime novels byYrsa Sigurðardóttir, and reserve the evening of March 17 for what will surely be another fun, informative and social event. The primary organiser of this event is Teaching Fellow in Icelandic, Dr Reynir Þór Eggertsson, who will be assisted by the rest of the Nordic Noir team of staff and students in the Department of Scandinavian Studies at UCL.
