Danish crime writer Jussi Adler-Olsen wins prestigious Danish prize

A few days ago it was announced that the current king of Danish crime, Jussi Adler-Olsen, has won this year’s Golden Laurels (a prize awarded by the Danish booksellers) for his crime thriller “Journal 64” (published late 2010 in Denmark), the fourth in the series featuring Inspector Carl Mørck and the Police Department Q. As previously mentioned on this blog, Adler-Olsen’s thrillers are on their way into the British market in May published by Penguin. The writer grew up in a psychiatric hospital where his father was the chief surgeon. This is where he met the real person behind a main character in his thrillers.
